Urban infrastructure development received a fresh boost in Yamunanagar on Monday as Mayor Suman Bahmani and MLA Ghanshyam Das Arora jointly inaugurated civic projects worth ₹1.20 crore across Wards 8, 9 and 22, with a focus on strengthening road connectivity and drainage infrastructure.

The foundation stones for the projects were laid in the presence of councillors Vibhor Pahuja, Bhawna Bittu and Ruchi Sharma, senior Municipal Corporation officials and local residents. The dignitaries formally flagged off the construction works and directed engineers to ensure strict quality standards and timely completion.

According to Mayor Suman Bahmani, the largest project under the package will be executed in Ward 9, where a ₹64.68 lakh road will be constructed in Rampura, connecting Pankaj Tyre Shop to the Government School. The project is expected to significantly improve daily commuting for schoolchildren and residents.

In Ward 8, the Municipal Corporation will spend ₹48.14 lakh on the construction of roads and drainage from House No. 330 to the HAFED godown, a project aimed at addressing long-standing waterlogging and drainage issues in the locality.

Meanwhile, residents of Professor Colony in Ward 22 will benefit from the construction of a new street at an estimated cost of ₹7.66 lakh, further strengthening neighbourhood infrastructure.

Highlighting the city’s ongoing development agenda, the Mayor said the Municipal Corporation is investing heavily in every ward through projects covering roads, drains, stormwater drainage systems, community centres and park beautification.

She stated that under the leadership of the Haryana Government, the civic body remains committed to ensuring balanced development across all parts of the city, with infrastructure upgrades continuing at a rapid pace.

MLA Ghanshyam Das Arora said the government’s priority is to ensure that quality civic amenities reach every section of society. He emphasised that improved roads, efficient drainage networks and modern urban infrastructure are essential for enhancing the quality of life of residents.

He instructed officials to complete all projects within the stipulated timeline without compromising construction quality so that citizens receive durable and long-term benefits.
