Anti-Narcotics Cell seizes 272 grams of heroin during a targeted operation; accused remanded to trace wider trafficking network

Yamunanagar Police arrested an alleged drug peddler with 272 grams of heroin, estimated to be worth around ₹30 lakh in the illegal market, during a targeted operation in the Shadipur area.
The arrest was made by the Anti-Narcotics Cell as part of the district police’s intensified campaign against narcotics under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal. A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and the accused has been remanded to police custody for further investigation.
According to police, the Anti-Narcotics Cell received specific intelligence that a man from Uttar Pradesh was on his way to Shadipur carrying a large quantity of heroin. Acting on the tip-off, a team led by Inspector Anil Kumar set up a checkpoint and intercepted a motorcycle rider matching the description.
In the presence of Duty Magistrate ETO Saurabh, the suspect was searched in accordance with legal procedures, leading to the recovery of 272 grams of heroin.
The accused was identified as Shah Rukh, a resident of Darbuji village in Saharanpur district, Uttar Pradesh.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the accused had been involved in drug trafficking for nearly a year and allegedly sourced heroin from Uttar Pradesh before supplying it in the Yamunanagar region. Police said he frequently visited Shadipur, where his in-laws reside, and allegedly used the family connection to avoid suspicion.
Investigators are now probing the source of the heroin, identifying its intended recipients and tracing others linked to the trafficking network. Police believe the interrogation could lead to further arrests and expose a larger narcotics supply chain operating in the region.
