Sacred rituals, Vedic yajna, devotional music and community feast mark the annual spiritual festival as devotees pay homage to Baba Lal Dayal Ji

Thousands of devotees converged at the historic Shri Lal Dwara Temple in Yamunanagar to celebrate Guru Purnima with immense devotion and religious fervour. The temple witnessed day-long spiritual programmes, including Vedic rituals, devotional singing, flag hoisting and a grand community feast, drawing devotees from across the region.
The temple complex was beautifully adorned with vibrant floral decorations and colourful lighting, creating a festive atmosphere for one of Hinduism’s most revered spiritual occasions. From the early hours of the morning, long queues of devotees formed to offer prayers to Baba Lal Dayal Ji and seek the blessings of their Guru.
The celebrations began with a traditional havan and yajna, accompanied by the chanting of sacred Vedic hymns. The rituals were conducted by Acharya Gopal Raj, Pandit Rajnish and Pandit Aadesh, who performed the ceremonies according to ancient traditions. Hundreds of devotees participated in the yajna by offering oblations and praying for peace, prosperity and the well-being of society.
One of the highlights of the event was the ceremonial Dhwajarohan (flag hoisting) atop the temple, performed amid devotional chants and bhajans. The ceremony symbolised faith, spiritual awakening and the continuity of the Guru tradition.
By afternoon, the temple premises were packed with devotees, leaving little room for movement. Worshippers applied tilak, offered prayers before the idol of Baba Lal Ji, and paid their respects to the Guru. Temple volunteers and members of the management committee made elaborate arrangements to ensure smooth darshan and maintain order despite the heavy turnout.
The spiritual atmosphere was further enriched by performances from renowned local and invited devotional singers, who presented Guru Vandana and soulful bhajans celebrating the glory of the Guru. Many devotees were seen immersed in devotion, singing along and participating enthusiastically in the celebrations.
The event concluded with the Maha Aarti of Baba Lal Ji, followed by a grand Mahaprasad (community feast). Thousands of devotees patiently queued to receive the blessed food, reflecting the spirit of equality, service and devotion associated with the festival.
Temple Committee President Ramesh Mehta, Yogesh Sharma, Treasurer CA Devender Mehta, Vijay Sharma, Keval Luthra, R.K. Vohra, Deepak Arora, Gulshan Gulati, Sonu Mehta, Monu Mehta, Sudarshan Airy, Narender Oberoi, Rajendra Sobti, Manoj, Anil Solanki, members of the women’s wing and several prominent citizens were present and contributed to the successful organisation of the celebrations.
Organisers said Guru Purnima is a timeless celebration of the Guru-disciple tradition, inspiring devotees to follow the path of knowledge, humility and selfless service.
