Special meeting focuses on civic facilities, public welfare and month-long service campaign from September 17 to October 17

A special meeting of all councillors of the Municipal Corporation Yamunanagar-Jagadhri was held at the Mayor House in Model Town to discuss the city’s overall development, improvement of civic amenities and public welfare initiatives. The meeting also focused on preparations for the month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, which will be organised from September 17 to October 17 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years in public life.
The meeting was chaired by Municipal Corporation Mayor Suman Bahmani and BJP Yamunanagar district president Rajesh Sapra. Discussions centred on strengthening public services, accelerating development-oriented activities and ensuring greater participation of elected representatives and party workers in initiatives aimed at serving residents.
Addressing the meeting, BJP district president Rajesh Sapra said that Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public life had been marked by service, dedication and a commitment to nation-building. He said that under Modi’s leadership, the country had moved towards new milestones of development and called upon councillors and party workers to participate actively in the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
Sapra urged the councillors to ensure that the campaign remained focused on public service and social welfare. He said the participation of elected representatives at the local level would be important in connecting the campaign’s activities with people and addressing issues affecting communities.
Mayor Suman Bahmani said Narendra Modi had given priority to public service and welfare during his 25 years in public life. She said the country had made significant progress in areas including development, governance and self-reliance under his leadership.
Bahmani said the spirit of service and dedication associated with the Prime Minister’s public life could serve as an inspiration for public representatives and workers. She added that the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan would provide an opportunity to give further momentum to activities related to public service and social welfare.
During the meeting, councillors were briefed about various programmes proposed under the campaign. These will include blood donation camps, cleanliness drives, plantation programmes, water conservation activities, service camps to connect eligible beneficiaries with government welfare schemes and programmes aimed at creating social awareness.
The campaign is also expected to focus on extending assistance and services to people in need. Special attention will be given to environmental protection, conservation of natural resources and increasing awareness about welfare schemes among eligible residents.
The participants discussed the importance of ensuring that government schemes reach people who are eligible to benefit from them. Service camps will provide an opportunity for residents to obtain information about welfare programmes and understand the procedures for accessing available benefits.
The meeting also emphasised the role of public participation in making the campaign effective. Councillors and BJP workers were encouraged to work closely with residents and communities and participate in activities related to cleanliness, environmental protection, blood donation and social welfare.
Plantation drives and water conservation programmes will form an important part of the campaign’s environmental initiatives. The emphasis on public participation is intended to encourage citizens to contribute towards maintaining a cleaner environment and conserving water resources.
Cleanliness activities will also be organised at different locations, with councillors expected to play an active role in mobilising residents and encouraging greater community involvement. The campaign will seek to combine civic initiatives with broader social welfare activities.
The meeting also discussed reaching out to needy residents and ensuring that assistance reaches those who require it. The participating councillors were called upon to identify opportunities for service and coordinate with relevant teams and workers to facilitate public welfare activities.
The campaign’s focus on connecting eligible beneficiaries with government schemes was presented as an important component of the initiative. Councillors and party workers will be encouraged to help residents understand available schemes and facilitate their connection with relevant services.
The participants also discussed the need for collective efforts to strengthen the spirit of service, dedication and public welfare. Rather than limiting the campaign to ceremonial programmes, emphasis was placed on activities that could involve residents and generate visible public benefit.
All councillors attending the meeting assured the leadership that they would actively participate in development and public service activities and work together to make the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan successful.
The meeting comes at a time when local civic bodies are increasingly focusing on improving basic services and strengthening public engagement. For the Municipal Corporation, such initiatives also provide an opportunity for elected representatives to remain connected with residents and understand their concerns at the local level.
The councillors were encouraged to maintain coordination while implementing the proposed activities and to ensure that service-oriented programmes are conducted with public participation. The campaign from September 17 to October 17 will therefore combine social service, environmental activities, public awareness and welfare outreach.
The Mayor and BJP district president called upon the councillors and party workers to participate wholeheartedly in the month-long campaign and strengthen the message of service and public welfare.
With blood donation, cleanliness, plantation, water conservation, welfare outreach and social awareness programmes planned as part of the campaign, the organisers said the initiative would seek to take service activities closer to communities and encourage citizens to contribute to public welfare.
The special meeting concluded with councillors expressing their commitment to working collectively for the development of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri and ensuring active participation in the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
